A 66-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a February hit-and-run on the West Side.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Bayonne resident Rey Rosario left the scene of a crash that took place shortly before 7:45 p.m. on February 10, 2023, when the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Communipaw Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard.

Responding officers found a victim – later identified as a 39-year-old Jersey City woman – with multiple injuries. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. The victim was taken by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center with serious injuries.

Rosario has been charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Endangering an Injured Victim.

Rosario was arrested on Monmouth Street in Jersey City on January 5 by members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit.

He was released pending his first court appearance.
