Drivers beware. The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Jersey City Police Department and the Hoboken Police Department, will be cracking down on drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs tonight.

From 10:00 pm - 3:30 am. police will be conducting a DWI Checkpoint in the area of Paterson Plank Road and Hope Street on the Jersey City/Hoboken border. During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

“The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping the traveling public safe, which is why the primary purpose of this checkpoint is not to make arrests but to deter drivers from driving impaired,” said Sheriff Schillari.

Schillari suggests that anyone who drinks should use mass transportation, a cab, a car service or get a sober friend to drive for them.
