This weekend, Jersey City has a wide range of offerings, from Nimbus Dance’s “The New Americana,” to an Alzheimer’s awareness charity 5K. On Friday, it’s Transgender Day Of Visibility, and there will be multiple ways to celebrate. There’s also a Beatles festival, a Liberty State Park volunteer cleanup event, and more.

Nimbus Dance: The New Americana

Check out Nimbus Dance in “The New Americana,” which “showcases a medley of breathtakingly physical, emotional, and musical performances rooted in the American experience: past, present, and future.” Plus, on Friday they will be having their first Young Patron Night, which “provides the opportunity for you to see our most talked-about shows and meet other creatives and art lovers in a relaxed and fun environment.”

Exploring the Abandoned: MFA Exhibition by Jonathan Cohen

It’s the last weekend to catch Jonathan Cohen’s exhibition at the NJCU Visual Arts Gallery. “Jonathan Cohen’s photographs of the abandoned buildings and their surroundings show urban decay, but also beg to question why…. By using an extended exposure or a colored light sometime, Cohen’s images invoke the feelings of nostalgia, sadness, isolation, and a sense of decay.”

HardGrove Charity 5K Run & Walk/Run for Alzheimer Awareness

Support Alzheimer’s awareness at this charity 5K, which proceeds benefiting the Act Now Foundation. There will be music after the race, and food available for purchase.
